Raffle tickets will be on sale at £1 for a strip of 5 and there are 25 limited edition gig posters signed by Richard for sale at £10 each, first come first served.

See you there…

Meet the bands : #5 – The Lonesome & Penniless Cowboys

The Lonesome & Penniless Cowboys are a Hank Williams inspired band with Cajun influences who have been performing for many years. Their mix of Country and Western Swing was a massive hit at both previous Or8 Our Kids events. On both occasions they were joined for a couple of numbers by Richard Hawley, a long time friend and fan of the band. The Manchester group’s line up includes noted harmonica player and percussionist Clive Mellor who has regularly featured in Richard’s own live shows and has appeared on various recordings.

They’ll be rounding off the night at Or8 Our Kids III on Friday, get set for another old time good time.

Do you like good music?

One lucky punter on Friday night will be walking away with this lot from the raffle, and that doesn’t include the ones we haven’t physically added to the pile yet. There are currently over 30 CDs & EPs (check the supporters page for a full list of who is in there).

Maybe you’re more a craft fan? There’s also a selection of hand made greetings cards up for grabs, both of the Birthday and Christmas variety.

And as well as the limited edition gig poster we’ll be selling on the night, somebody will be able to take away an even rarer limited edition of 1 in an alternative colour scheme.

And that’s not all. As previously mentioned we have gig tickets from Plug to see the Lemonheads in December as well as this lot:

And don’t forget for those unable to attend there’s our online raffle where you could win yourself a Hawley photo by Chris Saunders.

Meet the bands : #4 – Joe Armitage

Opening the night and making his Or8 debut at Or8 Our Kids III will be Joe Armitage. As well as keeping himself busy as a singer/songwriter, Joe is a designer and responsible for putting together the night’s poster. You can also catch his alter ego, DJ Dan Sette, once a month at The Green Room where he puts on Bone Shaker, a night playing the best in rock ‘n’ roll, R&B (the real stuff), Motown, soul, surf and more, all from good old vinyl.

It’s a shame about Ray…

You see Ray can’t come to Or8 Our Kids III, and therefore won’t be able to buy a ticket for our raffle, meaning he couldn’t possibly be the one lucky person who’ll win a pair of tickets to see Lemonheads perform their classic album It’s A Shame About Ray live and in full on Thursday December 8th. Thanks to the good people at Plug though it could be you. You wouldn’t want to be Ray, would you?

There’ll also be chance to win tickets for shows from Amelia Curran, Matt Andersen, Quiet Loner, Sean Taylor, Amanda Shires and more.

And since YouTube won’t let us embed the video for It’s…, you’ll have to make do with this:

Meet the bands : #3 – M&J Blues/Roaming Son

After kicking off proceedings at Or8 Our Kids 2 back in 2008, M&J Blues are back for more. The father and son duo of Mark & Jeff Lyall are regular performers at many Sheffield pubs doing their bluesy country rock ‘n’ roll thing. You can check out a live video of them in action here. This weekend they play The Ale House (19th) and The Bath Hotel (20th).

M&J Blues on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/groups/11483654339/

Roaming Son came into being when frontman Tim Lee Cavanagh saw M&J Blues perform at Or8 Our Kids 2. Tim and Mark Lyall came together, initially as a duo, but now expanded to a full band. They mix earthy heartfelt vocals with dirty, twangy, tremolo guitars, greasy bass & hard hitting jungle drums, creating a sound that is influenced by the classic rock’n'roll recordings of the 50′s and 60′s but bringing a distinctive modern flavour to the sound. At Or8 Our Kids III they will be performing as a duo in collaboration with M&J Blues. Hit the play button below to hear Cheyne Stoking (live).

One week to go!

Who’s coming? There are still a few tickets you can grab here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/113479 We’ll bring you more on the rest of the bands and some of the things you could win yourself in the raffle over the next few days.

Meet the bands : #2 – Dave Sleney

Singer/songwriter Dave Sleney has played in various bands over the years, most recently The Enquiry. As well as the country tinged indie pop sounds of his former band, Dave is renowned for heartfelt material in the downbeat singer/songwriter tradition. Also known for not being afraid to chuck in the odd classic cover.

If you’re interested in a taster of what’s instore next Friday, he plays La Foret in Sheffield tonight (17th).
